Visa for Faculty Members and Researchers
A visa(status of stay) refers to the authorization that allows a foreign national to enter and reside in Korea. Faculty members or researchers who plan to stay in Korea for more than 90 days for teaching or research activities at Sogang University must obtain a a Professor (E-1) visa, a Researcher (E-3) visa or another type of visa allowing these activities.
Visa Support Eligibility and Scope
The Office of International Student Affairs provides visa issuance support for full-time and part-time faculty members and researchers who are officially appointed through the Office of Academic Affairs or the Office of Research Affairs and are required to stay in Korea for more than 90 days. Before the faculty member or researcher applies for a visa at a Korean embassy or consulate, the university assists with issuing the “Confirmation of Visa Issuance(CVI)”, which is required for the visa application process.

- 4Master’s Degree (or higher) Certificate(Diploma) or Certificate of Graduation
- 5Certificate(s) of Employment or Career Verification
- If submitting a degree other than a Ph.D.(e.g., Master’s), you must also provide documentation proving at least 3 years of work experience in a related field.
