National Health Insurance(NHI)
Foreign students holding a D-2 visa are automatically enrolled in the National Health Insurance (NHI) once they complete their foreigner registration after entering Korea, and no separate application is required. However, they must pay the monthly insurance premium as instructed by the National Health Insurance Service. The National Health Insurance system provides coverage for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and health promotion of illnesses or injuries that occur within Korea. It was established to improve public health and strengthen social security. Enrollees receive reduced out-of-pocket costs when visiting hospitals or clinics and are also eligible for a free general health check-up every two years.
