Part-time Work Permit
International students holding a Study(D-2) visa can work part-time after obtaining permission from the immigration office.
To get approval for activities outside their visa status, students must have their part-time employment confirmation form verified by the Sogang University international student office and report it to the relevant immigration office.

Eligibility
- Students holding a Study(D-2) visa who meet the following requirements
CGPA 2.0 or above in the previous semester
Students in their first semester are exempt if transcripts are not yet available
Allowed Working Hours
- Number of allowed working hours varies depending on the student’s TOPIK score.
- For students in the English track, having a score of TOEFL 530 (CBT 19, iBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, or TEPS 601 (NEW TEPS 327) is considered equivalent to meeting the Korean language proficiency requirement.
- Students from countries where English is the native or official language are exempt from submitting English language proficiency scores.

Permitted Fields
- Part-time employment at the level of student part-time jobs( e.g., simple labor) is permitted
- Activities related to the student’s major or that can be pursued alongside academic studies
Restricted Fields
- Private tutoring
- Professional fields (E-1 to E-7 visa categories)
- Construction and manufacturing sectors
- Employment at facilities related to foreign language education for minors (e.g., English kids' cafes, English camps, foreign language conversation institutes)
- Delivery drivers, couriers, home study instructors, proxy drivers, etc
- Employment through dispatch, contracting, or brokerage relationships, and long-distance work
- Any activities that violate good morals or public order

The contract is based on the principle of an agreement between parties with business registration certificates, and does not allow employment contracts where hiring and employment are separated.
If you are employed on a daily or dispatched basis through employment agencies, dispatch companies, etc., permission is restricted.

Enforcement Measures for Violators of Part-Time Employment Permit
- 1Unauthorized Employment Without Permit
- First Offense: Minor violations result in a warning notice.
- Second Offense: Mandatory deportation without exception, particularly in cases of illegal employment in the construction sector
- 2Employment Without Obtaining Permit
- First Offense: Severe warning issued
- Second Offense: Prohibition from legal part-time employment imposed.
- Third Offense: Cancellation of student visa status.
